Saturday night as Donald Trump campaigned in Reno, Nevada, a disturbance broke out and the Republican presidential nominee was whisked off stage by secret service. At the time there was no immediate information available. Now more details regarding the incident have been released.

According to reports, the commotion was caused by a man named Austyn Crites who was carrying a “Republicans Against Trump” sign. His only goal was to show his displeasure toward the candidate, but things quickly turned violent.

“I just went with sign that said ‘Republicans Against Trump,’ ” Crites said. “It’s a sign that you can find online. I held up the sign and initially people around me were just booing me telling me to get out of there. Then a couple of these guys tried grabbing at my arm, trying to get the sign out of my hands.”

According to Crites, Trump began pointing at him, almost as if he was instigating something. He says that when the crowd couldn’t grab the sign, they started going crazy. Cries says that is when the crowd began tackling him and piled on top of him.

Things quickly escalated when someone yelled out the there was a gun, however it was determined that Crites did not have any weapon and no weapon was found on the premises.

“I was trying to get the Secret Service’s attention for them to respond,” said Michael Newton, 45, of Santa Rosa, Calif., who helped restrain Crites. “They didn’t respond. I thought I had to do something. I put my knee on what I think was his head, so I’m not really sure. There were five guys on him and he was moving. I tried to help them immobilize him.”

Crites says that there were people grabbing at his neck so hard that he could have been strangled. He says that people grabbed at his genitals, kicked him and if it weren’t for police officers who defused the situation, things could have gotten worse.

Crites was eventually taken away by Secret Service, who determined he had no weapon and opted not to press charges. He cites the crowd’s violent tendency to Trump’s antics.
