Rod Wave Busted with Loaded Glock, Oxycodone, and Promethazine During Latest Arrest in Atlanta

Rod Wave

Rod Wave’s most recent arrest has his fans concerned as more troubling details emerge.

The Florida artist, whose real name is Rodarius Green, was arrested Friday night in Atlanta after allegedly blowing through a stop sign in a residential area. According to police, that traffic violation led to a much deeper discovery involving drugs, firearms, and reckless behavior.

An Atlanta officer stated that Rod was traveling about 45 mph in a 30 mph zone and failed to stop at a stop sign on Defoor Avenue NW. As the officer followed him, he called for backup from the Georgia State Patrol. He was eventually stopped at a QuikTrip on Howell Mill Road, where officers say he tried to back into a handicap parking space.

Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer reportedly smelled marijuana. When asked if he had a weapon, the “By Your Side” performer remained silent, but a frisk revealed a .40 caliber Glock with a high-capacity magazine. According to Atlanta News First, police then searched his car and said they found promethazine, oxycodone, a 9mm Sig Sauer handgun, and a backpack stuffed with bundles of cash.

Rod was arrested and charged with drug and weapon violations, including possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and reckless driving. He was released the next day on an $8,000 bond. Rod’s passenger, Jamond Byner, was also taken into custody after admitting to having marijuana. He faces similar charges and was also released Saturday.

This all unfolded just hours after Rod Wave earned his first Grammy nomination. This latest arrest arrives months after Rod was taken into custody for simple assault, reckless conduct, damaging property, obstructing law enforcement, tampering with evidence, and conspiracy to commit a felony in May. In recent weeks, he was also sued by a promotion company for allegedly failing to hold up his end of a multi-million dollar touring deal.
