Roddy Ricch Pushes Back Against “Fall Off” Rumors with New Single

Roddy Ricch has returned with his long-awaited single, “Survivor’s Remorse,” and he’s addressing the rumors of his alleged decline. On the Turbo-produced track, he raps, “Imagine if I had a dollar for every time you say I fell off, I’d be a billionaire.” This sentiment reflects what Ricch has faced for several years, a notion that began after his impressive early success.

After releasing the popular mixtapes “Feed Tha Streets” in 2017 and “Feed Tha Streets II” in 2018, Ricch debuted his studio album, “Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocial,” in 2019. The album’s hit single, “The Box,” was nominated for a Grammy and became RIAA diamond certified. Ricch’s success continued with his feature on Nipsey Hussle’s “Rack In The Middle,” which won a Grammy.

However, a shift occurred when Ricch released his second studio album, “Live Life Fast,” in December 2021. Despite including promising features from artists like Future, Jamie Foxx, Ty Dolla Sign, and Takeoff, many criticized the album as a disappointing follow-up after a two-year wait. Numerous YouTube reviewers, including popular streamer Shawn Cee, labeled “Live Life Fast” as “the most disappointing album of 2021.” Fans echoed these sentiments, criticizing the album’s lack of growth, lackluster hooks, and weak wordplay.

Ricch seemed to respond to the backlash in February 2022 by previewing an unreleased track titled “Out of My Mind” on Instagram. However, the criticism only intensified, leading Ricch to delete the post and deactivate his social media accounts.

He re-emerged shortly after but faced a similar experience in July 2023 during an IG Live session where he played new music. Fans quickly dropped off the Live, and those who remained left crude remarks. Despite this, Ricch pushed forward, releasing the third installment of his mixtape series, “Feed Tha Streets III.” Unfortunately, this too was met with accusations of failing to live up to the excitement of his earlier work.

The California native appeared to take another hiatus, continuing to appear on guest features. It wasn’t until May 31, 2024, that Ricch made a triumphant return with “Survivor’s Remorse,” the lead single from his forthcoming album, “Navy.” Though it’s too early to gauge the full direction of his new work, “Survivor’s Remorse” has been well received, suggesting that Ricch may finally be overcoming the “fall off” allegations.
