“Rush Hour 4” Is In the Works 15 Years After the Last Film’s Debut

Fifteen years after the last installment of the film, “Rush Hour 4” is on the way.

Legendary actor Jackie Chan confirmed the fourth film in the wildly popular franchise is moving forward. The 68-year-old made the announcement during the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia.

“We’re talking about Rush Hour 4 right now,” he told fans during a chat about his many movies but admitted that the current script “wasn’t right.”

“I will see the director tonight, and we will be talking about it,” Chan added.

When social media caught wind of the revelation, fans rejoiced, though many expressed concerns that some of the film’s dark humor may not be acceptable in today’s society.

“Rush Hour” debuted in 1998 and surrounded the unlikely friendship of two cops, Lee, portrayed by Chan, and Carter, portrayed by comedian Chris Tucker. The two are forced to work together to free the kidnapped daughter of a Chinese diplomat. The film was wildly popular, grossing $244.4 million and spawning the even more popular sequel, “Rush Hour 2,” which debuted in 2001, grossing $347.3 million at the box office. “Rush Hours” third installment arrived in 2007 to mixed reviews compared to its predecessors. Still, the movie brought in $258.1 million from a $140 million budget.

In 2018, rumors of “Rush Hour 4” began to float around. Tucker also said the film was happening, but Chan’s team shot down the chatter. Now, it appears that everyone is on the same page, though Tucker hasn’t spoken out about this latest revelation.
