Russell Westbrook is proving once again that his basketball journey is far from over. The former NBA MVP has officially signed with the Sacramento Kings, marking his 18th season and his seventh team in eight years.
After a solid year with the Denver Nuggets, where he helped lead the team to the Western Conference semifinals, Westbrook remains one of the league’s most competitive veterans. Though no longer the nightly triple-double threat of his prime, his impact off the bench has been undeniable, earning Sixth Man of the Year votes in consecutive seasons.
Last season, he averaged 13.3 points, 6.1 assists, and 4.9 rebounds, shooting 32.3% from beyond the arc — his best mark since 2017.
For the Kings, who have hovered around the ninth seed the past two years, Westbrook’s addition could be a difference-maker. With DeMar DeRozan, Domantas Sabonis, and Zach LaVine already leading the charge, his experience and energy could help push Sacramento beyond the play-in and back into playoff relevance.
