Sacramento Shooting Leaves Six Dead, A Dozen Injured

At least six people were killed and 12 injured in a shooting that occurred in the area of 10th Street and K Street early Sunday.

Sacramento police officers responded to the sound of gunshots in the area around 2 a.m. Once authorities arrived on the scene, they located a large group of people and multiple gunshot victims. Six people were pronounced deceased at the scene. 

Police are aware of an altercation that preceded the shooting, according to a press release from the department. They are working to determine if it is related to the shooting. Investigators recovered at least one gun during the course of the investigation. 

“This is a really tragic situation,” Police Chief Kathy Lester told ABC10.

There has been no additional information regarding the 12 victims who were wounded. No suspects have been identified, and no arrests have been made. 

Police are appealing to the public for any additional photos or videos of the incident. Authorities encourage any witnesses with information regarding the case to contact the dispatch center at (916) 808-5471 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP (4357). Callers that provide information may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
