Scammers Target GoFundMe Of Security Guard Killed During Buffalo Tops Mass Shooting

The family of the security guard who tragically lost his life during the mass shooting at a Buffalo Tops has been targeted by scammers who tried to steal money from their GoFundMe.

The online fundraiser was created by Aaron Salter Jr.’s son to help the family. The GoFundMe has raised more than $45,000, smashing its original $10,000 goal.

Aaron Salter III told TMZ that scammers targeted the fundraiser, trying to access his personal information and bank account numbers. He told the outlet he was scrolling through messages when he came across one from someone claiming they wanted to donate $4,000. But when he clicked on the message, his personal info was changed to that of someone in Mississippi.

Salter III said he was able to contact GoFundMe directly, and they were able to fix the situation. The platform confirmed to TMZ that a phishing attempt was thwarted, and the money will be given to the family.
