Did Sexual Harassment Claims Cause L.A. Reid To Leave Epic Records?

Just days after it was announced that L.A. Reid abruptly stepped down from his post at Epic Records, a new report provides insight into what may have caused the exit.

 

Reid is being accused of “unlawful harassment” of a female assistant. According to the accuser’s attorney, his client experienced harassment on a daily basis, prompting her to eventually quit her job. According to Billboard, Reid’s accuser details inappropriate remarks the exec made about her appearance and clothing and alleged propositions that caused her embarrassment and distress. A letter from the accuser’s attorney to Sony threatened a lawsuit if the company they could not reach a settlement. The complaint sparked a companywide investigation into Reid’s conduct.

 

An attorney for Reid declined to comment, though one person in his camp noted there were inaccuracies in the claimant’s letter to Sony.
