Sixth Suspect Charged For Murder of Chicago Rapper FBG Duck

A sixth person has been charged with the murder of Chicago rapper FBG Duck, real name Carlton Weekly.

Ralph Turpin, 33, is accused of being a part of the criminal organization that killed Weekly and “violently protected” the gang and its territories on the South Side of Chicago in a superseding indictment that the federal government unveiled on Monday.

According to the initial indictment, the O-Block gang committed several acts of violence, publicly accepted blame, and used social media and music to expand their criminal organization.

The killing of Weekly, who was fatally shot on August 4, 2020, in Chicago’s Gold Coast area, was one of the suspected acts of violence.

Turpin has been charged with one count of committing murder in aid of racketeering and one count of conspiracy to commit murder in aid of racketeering.

In addition to federal firearms violations and assaults in aid of racketeering, he joins Charles Liggins, Kenneth Roberson, Tacarlos Offerd, Christopher Thomas, and Marcus Smart, who were all charged in the original indictment with murder in furtherance of racketeering and conspiracy to commit murder in furtherance of racketeering.

The indictment’s murder count carries a mandatory minimum sentence of life in prison and a maximum possible sentence of the death penalty. The maximum possible term for one of the firearms charges is the death penalty. In contrast, the maximum possible sentence for the other firearms charge is a minimum of 10 years in federal prison and a maximum of life in prison.

Turpin’s detention hearing has been scheduled for April 12.
