Snapchat Paying 25 Black Content Creators $10,000 a Month as Part of New Accelerator Program

Snapchat is offering support and other resources necessary to up-and-coming black content creators.

The social media platform is partnering with Google Pixel, UNCMMN, and Will and Jada Pinkett Smith‘s Westbrook Media to launch the new accelerator program.

Snapchat is the latest program targeting underrepresented African-American creators. In January 2020, YouTube announced their #YouTubeBlackVoicesFund.

“Black creators face unique systemic barriers across the creator industry. From disparities in compensation and attribution to toxic experiences and more,” Snapchat said. “We believe one of the ways we can help remove some of those barriers is to provide mentorship and financial resources to emerging Black creators in the early stages of their professional career.”

To qualify for the program, creators must be at least 18 years old and identify as black. The social media app will choose 25 winners that will receive $10,000 in monthly stipends for a year, a new Google Pixel, and a lot more.

The applications will be open from now until August 12th.
