Sonic Drive-In has already expanded its burger lineup, with four new All-American Sonic Smasher burgers now available nationwide after officially rolling out on January 12 for a limited time.
The release builds on Sonic’s Smasher platform, which debuted in August 2024, as fast-food chains continue to lean into value-driven offerings. With higher menu prices influencing how often people eat out, familiar flavors and bundled meals have become key tools for brands trying to hold on to budget-conscious customers.
At the center of the expansion is the All-American Sonic Smasher, a classic cheeseburger positioned as a premium-tasting option without the premium price tag. Each burger is made to order with two hand-smashed Angus beef patties, seasoned and seared to create crispy edges and a juicy center. The patties are topped with American cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, crinkle-cut pickles, diced onions, ketchup, and mayo, then finished on a grilled potato bun.
Sonic has also introduced a triple-patty All-American Smasher, along with bacon and triple-bacon variations. These additions expand the Smasher lineup while keeping the original Sonic Smasher on menus.
“The Sonic Smasher proves you don’t have to settle,” said Ryan Dickerson, Sonic’s chief marketing officer, in a statement. He described the burger as a made-to-order option designed to compete with both fast food and fast casual, while staying accessible on price.
Alongside the new burgers, Sonic is offering a $6 All-American Smasher Meal. The value meal includes an All-American Sonic Smasher, a medium order of tots or Groovy Fries, and a medium soft drink or iced tea, available at participating locations nationwide and through the Sonic app.
