South Carolina Schools Close Early For Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s Upcoming “On the Run II” Concert

On August 21, ahead of Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s “On the Run II” tour stop in South Carolina, students at six schools will be dismissed early, thanks to The Carters.

According to local newspaper The State, Richland 1 School District officials expect heavy traffic from the Columbia concert, held at the University of South Carolina’s 80,000-seat football stadium. As a result, the district will close six schools after a half day.

“We are hoping that dismissing these schools early will reduce the likelihood that buses transporting those students home would be delayed by the concert traffic,” a spokesperson for the district said.
