Steph Curry To Be Named NBA MVP – blogged by @LoveRubyWoo

For the second year in a row, Warriors guard Stephen Curry will be taking home the award for the NBA’s Most Valuable Player. According to ESPN, Curry is predicted to win MVP for the 2015-2016 season by unanimous vote, though it will not be formally announced until later this week.

This marks just the 11th time in NBA history that a player has won the MVP award back-to-back, and the first time ever that a player has won the award unanimously.

Nearing the end of a remarkable season for the Warriors, Curry led his team to a record-breaking 24-0 start to the season. With Curry at the helm, the team broke yet another long-standing record at the end of the season after reaching 73 wins to top the record previously held by the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls. Throughout the season, Curry averaged 30.1 points per game, which was the best in the NBA, 6.7 assists, and 5.4 rebounds. He also beat his own record for 3-pointers in a single season, having made 402.

Curry sustained a knee injury in the playoff series against the Houston Rockets but looks to return towards the end of the Warriors-Blazers series, or at the beginning of the conference finals if the Warriors advance. His teammates have been holding it down in Curry’s absence, but once he does return, we’ll see if the MVP can take his team all the way once again.
