Roddy Ricch, Chloe Bailey, and Coi Leray Among Surprise Guests at Summer Jam

Summer Jam 2022 was full of surprises, fun performances, tributes, and little to no rain. With 9 straight hours worth of performances and entertainment, this year’s Summer Jam concert exceeded fans’ expectations.

Roddy Ricch entered the Hot 97 Concert Stage to a hype crowd after being released from jail earlier that day.

The 23-year-old’s performance was one of the most highly anticipated as fans weren’t sure if he’d show up after being arrested in Queens for gun possession just hours earlier. Fortunately, he was out on bail that same night to perform his top hits. During his set, Ricch expressed his distaste for the New York Police Department, saying, “F**k NYPD.”

Fivio Foreign was a headliner for Summer Jam and made it known that he is the King of New York. The rapper came out in a crown to Alicia Keys’ vocals to “City of Gods,” and the crowd went crazy. The New York native knows how to put on a show, and in the process, he surprised attendees with not one but two special guests; Coi Leray and Chloe Bailey.

His feature on Drake’s “Demons” segued into “Wetty” before singer/rapper Coi Leray came out to lend support with vocals on “What’s My Name.” Fivio was later joined by Chlöe Bailey, who strutted out to help him perform their hit song “Hello.”

Remy Ma and Busta Rymes were among those to surprise attendees at the New Jersey event. The two were included in an all-star tribute to the Drama King, the late great DJ Kay Slay.

Busta Rhymes made his presence felt with “Touch It,” joined by Remy Ma and her husband, Papoose, who added a verse each. Fat Joe got the crowd going when he came out to perform his mega-hit “Lean Back.” And Maino reminded everyone he still had it, rapping to “Slide” off his and Jim Jones’ latest album, “Lobby Boyz.”

As the tribute came to a close, phones lit up the stadium, and red lights engulfed the entourage of hip-hop mainstays onstage. Papoose took the mic somberly and said, “If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t be here.”

Despite minor technical issues and a little rain, Summer Jam was a block party that no one wanted to leave.
