Socialite and restaurant owner Svitlana Flom spoke with Page Six after a viral video circulated the internet of her calling the cops on Janae Garcia, an African American woman. According to Flom, the clips shown on social media only portray her as a racist, instead of showing what really happened that day.
Flom alleges that their disagreement began when she informed Garcia and her friend that they were not allowed to smoke “weed” at the park, which a pregnant Flom was visiting with her two children. She claims that when she said that, Garcia got out of her seat and proceeded to get in her face.
“She didn’t care I was pregnant, or that I had two little kids.”
The Maison Vivienne co-owner told Page Six that Garcia called her a “b**ch and yelled aggressively at her, which prompted her to call the cops on Garcia.
On the day of the incident (May 30), Janae Garcia posted several clips from her confrontation with Flom. Underneath her Instagram post, Garcia had this to say:
“From 6:15 pm – 7:31 pm this woman, Svitlana Flom, felt the need to not only approach me but call the cops MULTIPLE TIMES ON ME!! She was too “Alarmed” that I was sitting “comfortably” in “her neighborhood!” The first call was because she THOUGHT I was smoking in public… but by the 3rd call, it was [because] I was “threatening her & her children !!” While giving my description, she exaggerated her story & made it seem like I was the aggressor. “THIS AFRICAN AMERICAN WOMAN IS ATTACKING ME AND MY CHILDREN!”
She added:
“She had tears that were off and on, and she stated things like, “She’s pulling the black card!” Then [she] wanted me to walk to the boys w/ her. I probably could have just walked away!! I probably should have kept my mouth shut, right ?! NAHHH!! I couldn’t understand why she was so mad! Like ummmm, first of all, I pay all mine over here, Miss Lady !! How [do] you come over here just feeling so privileged [and] so comfortable enough to tell me I should leave ?! You’re buggin !! NOT THIS ONE!! She wanted to be a victim soooo bad!! NOT ONE PERSON CAME TO HER AID!! MULTIPLE [PEOPLE] witnessed the ordeal & just wanted to make sure I was ok! SHARE THESE VIDEOS AS MANY TIMES AS POSSIBLE !! #Sviylana Flom”
In response to Garcia’s post, Flom said that the recording was 45 minutes, but Garcia only posted bits and pieces of the clip. She demanded that Garcia posts the entire video, unedited.
“She put her narrative on it to make me look like a racist,” Flom claimed. “She twisted the entire thing like she’s some poor girl sitting alone on a bench, and I’m white trash, harassing her for no reason.”
The night of the confrontation, Flom said that received threats, included a text message shown to Page Six that read, “We will decapitate your red neck @ss b**ch!”

The video shows that Ms. Floms’ children’s bike is away from where Ms Garcia is sitting & shows Ms. Flom walking towards Ms. Garcia to actually sit across from her! So IF Ms Garcia was smoking – it’s a park… move away! AND where is this pregnant woman’s’ mask???
Apparently it’s a very tiny “park” and the smoking was not caught on camera. Sure I can see how she could have been provoked and the story twisted. Her mistake was giving her name and refusing to drop it with everything that’s going on.
Exactly, it’s a tiny park! So if she was really threatened or Ms. Garcia was smoking, Ms. Flom would have gone further away or even not leave her kids just happily playing with their scooters (which you could see in the background). For Pete’s sake, does it look like she and her kids was even in threat. She even stayed there for a long time, beside the alleged aggressor just calling 911. The icing on the cake was when she asked her alleged aggressor to walk to the police with her, OMG. Also more telling, her husband just left her there! Wow! Really, Ms. Flom, you are that obvious! But I would like to commend Ms. Garcia not only as a frontline worker but also for standing her ground. Just thankful, nothing serious happened to her in the end with the police.
