SZA and Nicki Minaj are officially beefing, and the internet is glued to every post. What started with a shady tweet turned into a full-blown clash after Nicki Minaj took aim at the R&B star, accusing her of being fake and opportunistic. SZA responded by doing what many don’t—dropping screenshots of past conversations with Nicki, revealing the Queen rapper had previously asked her to hop on a feature.
Nicki sparked the drama with a tweet calling out so-called “fake girls’ girls” who trash others behind the scenes but act friendly for the cameras. Fans quickly pieced it together and linked it to a resurfaced Met Gala clip showing Rihanna walking past SZA without acknowledgment. While many thought it was just Twitter doing its usual overanalyzing, Nicki’s tweet seemed too pointed to be random.
SZA, in what seemed to be a subtle response, tweeted about Mercury retrograde and warned followers not to take the bait. Nicki wasn’t here for it. She responded by unleashing a string of harsh insults, calling SZA’s voice “like a dead dog” and saying she looks like she “got stung by a bee.” Nicki didn’t stop there—she resurfaced old tweets allegedly from SZA that threw shade at Beyoncé, Madonna, Ciara, and Rihanna, questioning how someone could disrespect artists and then turn around to collaborate with them.
But SZA had time. She posted an old text conversation from 2020 where Nicki reached out to her team asking if she was available to record. In the messages, Nicki says she has a hook for SZA, showing not only familiarity but clear interest in collaborating. Along with the screenshot, SZA called Nicki out for pretending not to know her work, saying, “You’ve asked for features twice to no response.” She also reminded the Barbz that Nicki once quoted her lyrics from “Feeling Myself.”
SZA responded by calling Nicki’s behavior a “moment” and wishing her well. She ended by telling fans she’s choosing peace and is focused on her sold-out international tour, with another Paris show up next. Meanwhile, Nicki’s timeline remains active, with the rapper continuing her callout of the TDE camp, accusing them of trying to undermine her, especially around her #JusticeForDemoree campaign.
