T-Pain recently opened up about trust and loyalty in the music industry during an interview with Shannon Sharpe on his show, “Club Shay Shay.”

While celebrating the 20th anniversary of his debut studio album, the singer reflected on his experiences with collaborators and the lessons he has learned over the years.
“Nobody is your brother. Nobody,” T-Pain said. “Everybody’s your brother while they can use you. That is the quickest and most consistent thing that I’ve learned through this whole thing.”
During the interview, T-Pain specifically addressed DJ Khaled, a former collaborator. He explained that while Khaled is highly skilled at working with artists and moving projects forward, loyalty cannot always be assumed.
“I’ve had f**king DJ Khaled, and everybody tell me, ‘I’m your brother.’ Do not believe that s**t!,” he declared. “‘Oh my God, thank you so much. You’re my brother’ … And then none of that s**t was reciprocated.”
T-Pain and DJ Khaled share a long history of working together, including hits like “All I Do Is Win,” “I’m So Hood,” and “Go Hard.” Their relationship reportedly soured in 2013 when Khaled began collaborating more closely with Future, leading T-Pain to accuse him of replacing him during an interview with VIBE at the time.
After his comments on “Club Shay Shay,” some fans misinterpreted his words, believing he had said “f**k DJ Khaled.” T-Pain quickly cleared up the misunderstanding on Instagram.
He posted: “Well I definitely didn’t say f**k DJ Khaled but I’m from Florida, and n***as apparently can’t understand how fast I talk. I said ‘f**king DJ Khaled…’ because I was about to start a list, but decided it’s still love. I just learned how to move around n***as now.”

Throughout the conversation, T-Pain also reflected on the music industry more broadly. He emphasized that relationships can often be transactional, with loyalty sometimes disappearing once someone is no longer useful. He used his own experiences to show that navigating the industry requires both strategy and caution.
