In a candid conversation on Earn Your Leisure’s Market Monday, Tabitha Brown didn’t hold back about the fallout from the Target boycott and how it blindsided not just her, but many other Black‑owned businesses. She reflected on the frustration of not being looped in on the rapid changes.

Brown, who co‑owns a hair‑care brand stocked at Target through a partnership, reminded listeners of the uphill climb it takes to get shelf space.
“While I am a business owner in Target with my hair care company, all of those products are a partnership,” she explained. “It takes a long time to get on those shelves and a lot of money.”
Her words hit even harder when she revealed the gut‑punch moment she realized what was happening.
“I found out the boycott was happening, I was like, dang, is this a setup to remove all Black businesses from the shelves? Because if a boycott happens, it’s our people. When those numbers come in low, we’re going to have to go.”
Calling out the company for rolling back DEI measures, which kicked off the boycott, Brown explained, “I still think that Target was very wrong and they have a lot of work to do.”
