While critics have labeled the move as “begging,” Tasha insists that the $3.5 million fundraiser is a direct response to years of requests from her loyal fanbase. The “Winos” have been vocal about wanting to help Tasha move past her 2022 defamation loss to Cardi B, and Tasha says she’s finally ready to accept that support. However, she was quick to clarify that she isn’t looking for a handout to replace her own efforts. Tasha revealed that she is strictly following a court-ordered plan, contributing $20,000 per month from her personal income. With roughly $3.5 million still outstanding, Tasha is framing the fundraiser as a “campaign.”
“Between GoFundMe and all the other sources and s**t, I’m running this like a politician. Like Hillary Clinton and them, I’m campaigning. You know what I’m saying? I got about 15,000…I’m a numbers person…All I need is 120,000 donors to donate $25, or I need 3,400 winos to donate a thousand. That’s 3.4 million. I’m going to get that because I’m rolling out a mentorship course…And they’re going to get that money. And I’m going to give them all the motherf**king game I got,” she shared.
She has promised total transparency for her donors, stating that she will share the books quarterly so supporters can track exactly how their contributions are chipping away at the balance.
Despite only raising a fraction of the goal so far, Tasha remains confident that with her community’s backing and hustle, she can finally close this chapter and get back to reporting without the shadow of a multi-million dollar debt hanging over her brand.
