Tell Your Man To Get His Female BFF In Check

I’m sure most of you guys watched Love and Hip Hop NY last night. It definitely got off to an interesting start. One of the main focuses of the show was the Tahiry x Joe x Raqi Thunda drama. To sum up where the “drama” comes from, Raqi was friends with Tahiry and Joe in the past. Certain actions lead Tahiry to believe Raqi was sleeping with Joe, or at least wanted to, therefore Tahiry cut her off and stopped speaking to her without warning. Raqi wanted to know why Tahiry was ignoring her but instead of approaching Tahiry like an adult, she kept poking the lion with a stick until Tahiry nearly put hands on her. There were clearly some instances that would lead one to believe that Raqi had feelings for Joe. Joe finally took the hint that Raqi was trouble after she kept pushing Tahiry’s buttons at Joe’s birthday party. When Joe realized Tahiry would possibly kill Raqi, it was only right he put Raqi out of his home. Was it too little too late? What was even worse was the way Raqi cried and behind her tears sad: “He handled me like I never meant anything to him. I can’t forgive him for that.”

Then you had Olivia x Rich Dollaz x Erica. Erica is under the impression that she and Rich are an item and clearly Olivia is clueless about their entire relationship. Olivia tells Rich that she isn’t 100% behind the idea of him dating Erica. She feels that both of them are loose cannons and that any bad that comes from their relationship will fall back on her. Olivia calls a dinner meeting between the three to get to the bottom of the relationship. She finds out that Erica has an “R” tattoo on her hand and begins to interrogate Rich. From the looks of it, it looks like Olivia was far more invested in Rich’s relationship in Erica than she should have been. Sure, he’s her “BFF” and we are protective of our friends at times, but Rich is a grown man. Some of the questions she was asking need not be asked.

So where do you draw the line when you’re dealing with a man’s female BFF?

Personally I believe men should keep their female friends in line. Yes, girlfriends come and go, but your female friend should never step out of character unless you give her the okay to do so. In the scenario with Raqi and Tahiry, Raqi stepped way out of line. It was smart for Joe to put her out, but that type of behavior doesn’t come from nowhere. That behavior is behavior that has been allowed and that is why she continues to act in such a manner. Men have got to learn to see signs women throw at them. In my honest opinion, whether he slept with Raqi or not, she sure is acting like she has more than friendly feelings for him. No “friend” jumps at the Ex that way unless it’s truly more than just a friendship. The way she came at Tahiry was very suspect and I’m sure she had exhibit behavior in the past that would lead one to believe she carried feelings for her “friend”. The problem is, men just don’t pay attention. A woman will throw out signs and men will naively encourage it, not knowing any better.

In Olivia’s case, she should have kept her concerns with Rich. There was no reason to have dinner with Rich and Erica as if they had to have her approval first. Fact of the matter is, Rich is going to do what Rich wants to do and who he is sticking his penis in is none of Olivia’s concern. Her concern as a BFF and a CLIENT is nothing more than his well being and that her music comes out properly. In reality, Rich and Erica’s relationship doesn’t effect Olivia at all but if there was a call for concern, they needed to be addressed with Rich. Rich should have never allowed that meeting to take place without explicitly telling Olivia that she should chill.

Men have got to realize that whether they like it or not, they are responsible for the women they call friends. It’s not fair, but it’s the rules.
