Booking a cruise is always nice for a short getaway trip, no matter the destination. Now, imagine spending 33 weeks on a cross-continental excursion to see the world. That’s exactly what many travelers aboard the Viking Sun cruise ship have signed up for, a Guinness World Record-breaking, one-of-a-kind trip around the globe.
The ship will begin its journey in Southeast London, traveling to 53 countries on every continent except Antarctica. Travelers can expect to spend about half their time on the ship with stops to 113 ports. The scenery is sure to be breathtaking as passengers will sail through places like, French Polynesia, New Zealand, Australia, Bali, Vietnam, India, Jordan, Egypt, Malta, and Sardinia to name a few. Christmas will be spent sailing between Costa Rica, and Guatemala and guest will ring in the New Year in California.
In order to sail upstream to otherwise off-limit destinations for standard size ships, the Viking Sun is much smaller and only accommodates 930 passengers. Its amenities include multiple pools, spas, libraries, a movie theater, and eight restaurants. Each stateroom consists of a veranda, and more luxurious accommodations are available for guests staying in the owner’s suite. Their stay includes 24-hour room service, 1,400 sq ft rooms that include a kitchen, living room, dining room, and extensive wine collection. Unlike other cruise lines, there is no casino on board, and passengers must be 18 years or older to sail.
As you can imagine, a cruise of this magnitude won’t come cheap. Estimated costs for the entire duration of the cruise is $93,000, which according to reports includes, “business class international air, transfers to and from the ship, all gratuities and service fees, three complimentary visa services, and free luggage shipping services.” Also, if you didn’t want to be onboard the ship the entire 245 days, you can book a portion of the trip for 126 days at $48,000.
Now, whose job is going to allow that much time off for you to book this trip?
