“The Sandlot” is the latest movie to earn their first TV remake.
Cooperstown Kurt’s baseball podcast invited the film’s director, David Mickey Evans, for an interview. “The Rain Delay” is where he shared the news of his latest venture. The artist behind the magical 1993 cult classic has decided to set his sights on bringing a sequel to life in television form. And the cherry on top? All the original cast members will be a part of the series.
Things are so set that there’s already a decision on which streaming service the show will air on.
A lot of the details were held under wraps. However, we do know the storyline will pick up years later, where the main characters will be in their 30s with children of their own.
For those who don’t know, “The Sandlot” follows the “new kid in town” trying to make his way in with an established group of buddies. Their love for baseball eventually strengthens them even closer. The rest of their summer consists of exploring exciting adventures like taking on the neighborhood legend, “The Beast,” landing a kiss on everyone’s crush, Wendy Peffercorn, and of course, tossing the ball around a few good times.
