The Weeknd Cancels LA Show After Losing His Voice Mid-Song [Video]

On Saturday, The Weeknd was barely into his set at the sold-out SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles when he lost his voice.

The band started playing “Can’t Feel My Face” to the crowd of 70,000 without the singer on stage. Instead, The Weeknd was backstage trying to figure out what to do because he could not continue performing.

I don’t know what just happened when I screamed, but I just lost my voice,” he explained. “This is killing me. I don’t want to stop the show.”

But unfortunately, the artist did have to stop the show. He promised to make it up to the crowd, who initially seemed to take the news ok. Someone who attended the event told EW that it was a little chaotic after the news sunk in.

This was the second show at the sold-out stadium for his After Hours Til Dawn Tour. The tour has already been twice because of the pandemic.

After leaving the show, The Weeknd took to his social media to express again how sorry he was to have to cancel on his fans.

“My voice went out during the first song, and I’m devastated,” he wrote in his Instagram story. “Felt it go, and my heart dropped. My deepest apologies to my fans here. I promise I’ll make it up to you with a new date.”
