Grammy-winning artist The Weeknd has stepped up with a significant donation of $350,000 to aid recovery efforts in Jamaica following the devastation caused by Hurricane Beryl.
The donation was made through The Weeknd’s XO Humanitarian Fund, in partnership with the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). The funds will help provide emergency food assistance to communities hardest hit by the storm, which made landfall in early July as a powerful Category 4 hurricane.
Jamaica experienced widespread damage from intense winds and heavy rainfall, leaving many families without shelter, power, or access to clean water. The Weeknd’s contribution will enable WFP to distribute urgently needed food supplies, as well as support longer-term recovery and resilience-building programs in affected areas.
The Weeknd, born Abel Tesfaye, launched the XO Humanitarian Fund in 2022 to support global hunger relief efforts. The fund has since provided aid in crisis zones including Ethiopia, Gaza, and Lebanon, with millions raised and distributed through WFP’s global operations.
WFP has praised The Weeknd’s continued support, noting the urgency of relief efforts in the Caribbean where climate-related disasters have become increasingly severe and frequent. According to WFP officials, the artist’s donation will immediately support thousands of Jamaicans impacted by Hurricane Beryl.
