These Republicans Senators Objected To Certifying The Election Results

Despite the volatile mob of rogue Trump supporters that invaded the nation’s Capitol on Wednesday, several Republicans have still voted against certifying the presidential election.

Early Thursday, Congress certified the election of Joe Biden, which put an end to Trump’s long battle to prove that election fraud led to Biden’s win. Senators Ted Cruz of Texas, Josh Hawley of Missouri, Cindy Hyde-Smith of Mississippi, John Kennedy of Louisiana, Tommy Tuberville of Alabama, and Roger Marshall of Kansas all voted to overturn the Arizona results, while 93 senators voted against it. As for the results in Pennsylvania, Hawley, Cruz, Tuberville, Hyde-Smith, Marshall, and Senators Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming and Rick Scott of Florida voted to overturn it, while 92 voted against it.

The House rejected the Arizona challenge by 303 to 121 and rejected the Pennsylvania challenge by 282 to 138.

Senator Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee, Senator Kelly Loeffler of Georgia, Senator James Lankford, Republican of Oklahoma, and Cathy McMorris Rodgers of Washington Initially vowed to back efforts to throw out election results. However, they decided to rescind their support following Wednesday’s violence at the nation’s Capitol incited by Donald Trump.

McMorris Rodgers referred to the MAGA rioters as “thugs” in her statement.

“Thugs assaulted Capitol Police officers, breached and defaced our Capitol building, put people’s lives in danger, and disregarded the values we hold dear as Americans. To anyone involved, shame on you.”
