Third Animal Rights Activist Arrested After Attempting To Disrupt The Timberwolves-Grizzles Game [Video]

The animal rights activists are not playing with the Timberwolves owner, Glen Taylor. Another activist has attempted to disrupt the NBA game with a protest.

On Saturday, Sasha Zemmel dressed up as a referee in an attempt to enter the basketball court. Zemmel planned to pause the game and approach Timberwolves owner, Glen Taylor, to issue a “technical foul and ejection” and a “fine.”

However, Zemmel did not get far and was immediately arrested by security. Zemmel wore a makeshift referee jersey with the number 5.3 written on the back. The number symbolized the 5.3 million chickens killed following an outbreak of “highly pathogenic avian influenza.”

According to Direct Action Everywhere, the chickens were killed using “ventilation shutdown plus.” The process is a mass killing method where ventilation openings in the industrial sheds full of birds are closed. Then some combination of heat, steam and/or carbon dioxide gas is introduced to suffocate them.

Taylor has been getting targeted all month by protesters because of an incident involving chickens that took place at an egg farm he owns recently.

On April 12th, a woman glued herself to the court at the Clippers-Timberwolves game. A few days later, on the 16th, another woman chained herself to the basket during game 1 of the Grizzles-Timberwolves series.
