T.I. Reveals He Referred Gunna to His Own Lawyer Days Before He Turned Himself In [Video]

During a new episode of his podcast “expediTIously,” T.I. shared details about a phone call he received from Gunna shortly after the rapper was indicted. T.I. framed the call as a request for guidance at a tense and uncertain time, not as a move to take control of the situation. T.I. explained that Gunna contacted him while struggling to lock in legal representation.

“I received a call from him where he sought my recommendation for a lawyer, and without hesitation, I directed him to my attorney, Steve Sadow,” he said. At that point, Gunna had not been able to connect with attorneys Brian Steel or Drew Findling. The referral happened only days before Gunna turned himself in, making the timing a key detail in how events unfolded.

With hindsight, T.I. admitted he would have handled the conversation differently if he had known how the case would play out.

“I would have ensured that he understood the repercussions of his decision. Agreeing to this plea could lead to public backlash and damage his reputation,” he said. “If anyone could have provided him guidance, it would have likely altered his decision.”

The plea deal later sparked intense debate across the music industry, with accusations and loyalty questions following Gunna and complicating his relationship with Young Thug. Young Thug addressed the rift during an appearance on the Its Up There podcast last September.

“Even if we were to amass a fortune together, I cannot unsee what transpired between us during our time facing legal issues,” he said. “We share love for one another, yet our paths have diverged. Sometimes, that’s simply the way things unfold.”
