T.I. Says Verzuz Talk Got “Poisoned” Before It Could Even Happen [Video]

T.I. is setting the record straight about the ongoing Verzuz chatter that keeps circling his name.

During a recent conversation with Ebro, the Atlanta rapper made it clear that while fans keep asking to see him on the Verzuz stage, the push has never actually come from him.

“You have expressed wanting to do verses, though, regardless of that,” Ebro said during the exchange. T.I. quickly corrected the narrative.

“I haven’t expressed it…And that’s another misconception that I really have a disdain for. I’m not out here soliciting myself for Verzuz. I don’t give a f**k about Verzuz.”

Still, listener demand has kept the conversation alive online, especially when people bring up the possibility of a Verzuz showdown with 50 Cent. The idea of the two rap heavyweights going record-for-record has floated around hip-hop circles for years. However, given their recent disses toward one another, it’s unlikely to ever take place.

According to Tip, the interest mainly comes from fans who want to celebrate his catalog.

“People want to see me in it,” he explained.

Even so, he admitted the constant debate around Verzuz battles has started to feel exhausting, especially as the conversation is what led to his spat with 50 Cent.

“It’s only goofy-a** s**t like this that make a n***a like, ‘Man, why y’all even come talking about this s**t to me in the first place?’”

The rapper also stressed that his career and lifestyle were never tied to the platform.

“I’m fine on my own, bro. I’m good. I don’t need none of this s**t, bro. I’m straight.”

Tip then pointed to his success outside of music, explaining that his motion never depended on a Verzuz moment.

“Without the success of ‘Let Em Know,’ without an album dropping, I could have still had my hair and doing comedy, and I’m living in the same house. Driving the same cars.”

For now, it sounds like the Verzuz conversation might be more fan-driven than artist-driven. And according to the 45-year-old, the constant chatter has already taken some of the excitement out of it.

“It ain’t even worth the trouble at this point, dog. You know what I’m saying?”

He added one final thought about the situation.

“Whatever positivity could have came from it. It’s been poisoned.”
