Ticketmaster Hit With Price Gouging Lawsuit Over Unfair Drake & 21 Savage Concert Ticket Costs

Ticketmaster has long been at the center of criticism for its handling of high-profile concerts, and now, the company is facing a lawsuit for its discretion.

Canada-based law firm LPC Avocat Inc. is taking action against the company after the latest fallout over the Drake and 21 Savage “It’s All a Blur” tour passes. LPC is claiming that Ticketmaster is price gouging after the cost of the tickets soared into the thousands. Fans have shared their dismay at the outrageous prices, leaving many unable to attend the highly anticipated show.

Per the Toronto Star, the lawsuit kicked off when a Montreal man purchased two “Official Platinum” seats for the July 14th concert at the Bell Centre. Each of which cost $789.54. Oddly enough, a show for July 15th was added at the same venue and was nearly $350 less for the same seats. The supposed “Official Platinum” held no real exclusivity to warrant such high fees. Yet, Ticketmaster has not stated why the price dropped for the second date at the Bell Centre. Multiple plaintiffs shared similar stories with LPC, which prompted the class action claim.

In other cases, customers reportedly saw Ticketmaster advertise tickets starting at $69. However, a quick glance at the prices for any of the dates displays tickets starting in the $300s.

“The tickets advertised and sold as ‘Official Platinum’ are neither ‘premium tickets’ nor ‘some of the best seats in the house’ and are, in fact, just regular tickets sold by Ticketmaster at an artificially inflated premium in bad faith,” the suit read.

The plaintiffs are now seeking at least $300 in damages for the inflated costs. Ticketmaster hasn’t publicly commented on the ongoing legal dispute.
