Black women have been doing amazing things throughout the years and this year is no exception. Essence magazine will be having their annual “Black Women in Hollywood” event celebrating, a slew of heavy hitters in the business from ‘Girl’s Trip’ star Tiffany Haddish to ‘Thor’’s Tessa Thompson.

Tiffany Haddish has had an amazing ride. From starring in the hit movie “Girls Trip”, to a now-bestselling author, the comedian is making her mark in the industry.

Lena Waithe, creator of “The Chi” and star of “Master of None,” who became the first black woman to win an Emmy for comedy writing will also be celebrated. Creator of the Tony-nominated “Eclipsed” and star of “The Walking Dead,” Danai Gurira, alongside Tessa Thompson, who stars in “Thor,” will also be honored at the event.

Vanessa De Luca, Essence magazine editor, says these women are “raising their voices to benefit all women.”
