Her self wedding is featured in episode five of her Peacock docuseries Tiffany Haddish Goes Off. The episode shows her walking down the aisle, reciting vows, and committing to her own well being and growth. The event was not meant to signal an end to dating. Instead, it was designed to set firm expectations for anyone entering her life moving forward.

Those expectations have already changed how she views romance. During her conversation with People, Haddish said, “Since I married myself, my dating life has been amazing.” She shared that the ceremony helped her implement boundaries she struggled to set before. “It’s been a lot easier because I have boundaries now. We have limits. And these men have to fall in line with what our requirements are.”

Financial responsibility is on that list. Haddish emphasized that a good credit score matters to her more than status or matching income levels.

As she put it, “They gotta have a good credit score. That’s your grown up report card.” She stressed that she does not expect her partner to earn the same amount she does, but reliability is essential.

This commitment to herself traces back years. Haddish first considered marrying herself in 2018 while reflecting on a difficult relationship. She recalled thinking, “I’ll be my husband. I could take care of me better than you could.” Over time, that early thought developed into a symbolic ceremony rooted in self respect.

The shift is even influencing how she plans her holidays. Normally she hosts a Thanksgiving meal, but this year she is choosing solitude and celebration on her own terms.

She said she will be traveling alone to the Bahamas instead. In her words, “I’m married, so we are going out on a little trip. A little married trip. A solo married trip.”
