During a shocking undercover operation in 2024, FBI agents captured Tom Homan, now the White House’s Border Czar, accepting a $50,000 cash payment from people posing as contractors, according to internal records and multiple sources.
The payment happened on September 20, 2024, at a meeting in Texas with hidden cameras rolling. At the time, Homan was running a private consulting firm promising help securing border enforcement contracts if Trump returned to office, according to MSNBC.
“This matter originated under the previous administration and was subjected to a full review,” FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche said in a joint statement. “No credible evidence of any criminal wrongdoing was found.”
Critics say the investigation was abruptly closed after Trump’s return to the White House in 2025. One senior official even dismissed it as a “deep state” attack. Despite the cash exchange being recorded, federal prosecutors took no action after Trump’s inauguration.
“Tom Homan has not been involved with any contract award decisions,” White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson insisted, calling him “a lifelong public servant doing a phenomenal job.”
Legal experts say that while Homan couldn’t be charged with bribery unless he was a federal official at the time, accepting money to influence future decisions could still violate conspiracy and fraud laws.
