Toronto Police Detain Individual Attempting to Enter Drake’s Property

Toronto police reported on Wednesday that they had detained an individual who tried to enter Drake‘s property in the city.

Reports say the police were alerted when the individual tried to enter the premises. A source close to the situation told NBC News, “The man didn’t actually break in. He was stopped at the gate by security and handed over to the police immediately.”

The police clarified that the incident was handled as a non-criminal matter under the Mental Health Act, and thus, no details about the individual involved would be disclosed. The Mental Health Act in Ontario allows for emergency mental health assessments to be carried out without the individual’s consent if supported by a physician or a justice of the peace.

Authorities confirmed that the attempted entry happened at the same location as a shooting incident on Tuesday, but stressed that the two incidents were unrelated.

On Tuesday, a security guard was critically injured in a shooting outside Drake’s mansion around 2 a.m., believed to have been shot from a passing vehicle. The guard was hospitalized in serious condition, according to Inspector Paul Krawczyk.

Drake, who has been in the news recently due to a rap feud with Kendrick Lamar and others, was not harmed in either incident. While it is unclear if Drake was present during Tuesday or Wednesday’s events, his representatives have not commented further due to the ongoing investigation.
