One of Tory Lanez’s lawyers reportedly dropped him as a client for unspecified reasons.
On Wednesday, Christopher E. Ells filed a motion to get permission from the court to stop representing Lanez. According to court documents, Ells wrote he is “unable to effectively represent” Lanez, citing “irreconcilable differences which cannot be resolved.”
Ells represented Lanez in his 2019 lawsuit involving “Love & Hip Hop: Miami” star Prince. The TV personality claims Lanez assaulted him inside of a nightclub. The police report alleges that Prince was approached by Lanez when the artist suddenly struck him.
Prince also claims that an employee of Lanez assaulted him again in 2020 inside of a club in South Beach, Miami. The reality star says Lanez and his entourage approached him around 4 a.m. and struck him on the left side of his face. The punch was so fierce that Prince allegedly needed medical attention for his swollen face.
“Immediately after punching [Prince] in the face, [Tory’s] employee/agent fled and attempted to enter [Tory’s] vehicle,” the suit read. “However, [Tory] yelled at the agent/employee and instructed him to leave the premises in a separate vehicle.”
Later, a rep for Lanez denied the incident and claimed Prince was “obsessed.” The rep also mentioned that there were no witnesses or camera footage to prove Prince’s allegations. Lanez has previously asked the judge to dismiss the case stating he acted in self-defense.
“A person is justified in using or threatening to use force against another when and to the extent that the person reasonable believes that such conduct is necessary to defend himself or another against the other’s imminent use of unlawful force,” Lanez wrote to the judge.
Prince is seeking unspecified damages for the alleged physical, psychological, and mental distress “from blunt force trauma” to his neck, chest and back.
