Trevor Noah Roasts Nicki Minaj Over Donald Trump Ties During Grammys Monologue [Video]

Trevor Noah surprised viewers by weaving political jabs into his opening monologue at the Grammy Awards, breaking with his usual practice of steering clear of heavy political talk during the show.

Noah kicked off the broadcast by playfully acknowledging many of the music industry’s biggest names in attendance before turning his attention to someone who wasn’t there, Nicki Minaj.

“Nicki Minaj is not here. She’s still at the White House with Donald Trump, discussing very important issues,” he joked before imitating Trump. “‘Actually, Nicki, I have the biggest a**! Everybody’s saying it. I know they say it’s you, but it’s me. WAP, WAP, WAP. Look at it, baby.'”

The comments referenced ongoing debate around Minaj’s outspoken support for Trump and the Make America Great Again movement, which has stirred conversation and division among her fans.

Last year’s Grammy monologue from Noah was notably subdued as the show came on the heels of the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles. He did use that stage to critique the Trump administration’s tariff policies, but this year’s tone was sharper and more directly pointed.

This year’s ceremony marks the sixth time Noah has hosted the Grammys, and also his final stint in that role. Ben Winston, the show’s executive producer with Fulwell Entertainment, shared his thoughts when the news was announced earlier this year.

“I am beyond thrilled to welcome Trevor Noah back to host the Grammys for his sixth, and sadly, final time,” Winston said. “He’s been the most phenomenal host of the show. He’s so smart, so funny, and such a true fan of the artists and music. His impact on the show has been truly spectacular, and we can’t wait to do it together one last time.”
