Trey Reed’s Hanging Death Officially Ruled a Suicide While Family Continues Seeking Answers

The death of 21-year-old Trey Reed has been officially ruled a suicide, but not everyone is ready to accept that explanation. Reed, a student at Delta State University, was discovered hanging from a tree on campus on September 15th.

Just three days later, Cleveland Police confirmed the autopsy findings supported a death by suicide. Officials say there were no injuries indicating foul play. But Reed’s family says the case has been handled inconsistently from the start.

Initially, relatives were told Trey had been found in his dorm room. Later, the story shifted to an outdoor discovery. That change alone has left loved ones frustrated and searching for clarity.

Civil rights attorney Ben Crump is now involved, calling for an independent investigation. He says the community deserves more than “quick conclusions” when so many critical details are still missing.

While state officials express sympathy and warn against spreading misinformation, Trey’s family insists the timeline doesn’t make sense. With toxicology results still pending and key facts under question, the push for truth is only gaining momentum.
