Trinity Rodman is here to stay.
The dynamic soccer star has agreed to a new long-term deal with the Washington Spirit that runs through 2028 and pays her more than $1 million per year. According to her representation, the agreement makes Rodman the highest-paid women’s soccer player on the planet.
After months of uncertainty, the Spirit locked in their franchise star just as global clubs were circling. Rodman had been out of contract following the 2025 season, and interest from overseas was very real. Several European teams explored offers that would have been difficult for any NWSL club to match under the league’s salary structure.
“I’ve made the DMV my home and the Spirit my family, and I knew this was where I wanted to enter the next chapter of my career,” Rodman said in a statement. “I’m proud of what we’ve built since my rookie season, and I’m excited about where this club is headed. We’re chasing championships and raising the standard, and I can’t wait to keep doing that with my teammates and the best fans in the NWSL.”
The road to this deal was not smooth. A creative contract attempt last fall was voided after Jessica Berman ruled it broke league rules. That moment helped push league leadership to approve the new High Impact Player rule, giving teams flexibility to retain elite talent.
“Trinity is a generational player, but more importantly, she represents the future of this club and the future of women’s soccer,” Spirit owner Michele Kang said.
Drafted second overall in 2021, the daughter of NBA legend Dennis Rodman has grown into a face of the league and a cornerstone for the United States Women’s National Team.
This contract is more than a paycheck. It is a statement about where women’s soccer is headed and who is leading the charge.

CONGRATULATIONS.
I’M HOPING THE WOMENS’ PROFESSIONAL FASTPITCH LEAGUE CAN REACH PROGRESS IN DEVELOPMENT.
