Trump Asks U.S. Judge To Force Twitter To Reinstate His Account

Donald Trump isn’t letting up. He wants his Twitter account back, and he wants it now.

The former “celebrity-in-chief” filed a request for a preliminary injunction against the social media site in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. He claims that Twitter was “coerced” by members of Congress to suspend his Twitter account, CNBC News reported.

He wants the judge to force Twitter to restore his account, which has been removed since January, over claims that he risked the incitement of violence.

Twitter and several other social media platforms banned Trump’s account after the horrendous Jan. 6 deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol.

After the riot, Trump made a speech, spreading false claims that he lost the November presidential election because of widespread fraud. A statement that has been proven wrong many times over.

Twitter “exercises a degree of power and control over political discourse in this country that is immeasurable, historically unprecedented, and profoundly dangerous to open democratic debate,” Trump’s lawyers said in the filing.

When Twitter banned Trump’s account, it supported its decision by saying his tweets violated the company’s policy barring “glorification of violence.” Twitter also felt that his barbaric tweets were “highly likely” to encourage people to plan and act out another riot similar to the Capitol.

It’s not surprising that Trump is upset. I mean, he did have more than 88 million followers on the platform and used it often to give his “unwanted” opinions.

This summer, Trump sued Twitter, Facebook, and their chief executives, claiming they unlawfully silenced his conservative views.
