Donald Trump praised Delta Air Lines for updating its manuals to replace “Gulf of Mexico” with “Gulf of America.”
Trump shared a screenshot on Truth Social that he said came from a Delta captain. “Delta’s official memo to employees. Big changes Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America,” he wrote.

He also noted changes to air safety terminology. “And the liberals thought Notice to Airman was racist to [sic] they changed it to Notice to Air Missions. Delta just changed it back to Notice to Airman,” he said. “I think they are finally embracing MAGA.”
Delta responded by clarifying that the revisions were not politically motivated. “Those changes were mandated by the FAA,” a spokesperson told The Post.
Although Delta framed the updates as regulatory compliance, Trump celebrated the change as evidence of support for his policies.
Trump’s executive order renaming the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America took effect on the first day of his second presidency and was later approved by the House of Representatives.
Google Maps now shows the name “Gulf of America” for users in the United States, while users in Mexico still see “Gulf of Mexico.”
