Donald Trump Files Motion Requesting Judge Block The DOJ From ‘Further Review of Seized Materials’ Following Mar-A-Lago Raid

Donald Trump has filed a motion seeking the opportunity to independently review the classified documents that the FBI found at Mar-a-Lago.

Trump temporarily doesn’t want the Department of Justice to review the classified documents the former president reportedly kept at Mar-a-Lago. Earlier this month, the FBI searched Trump’s Palm Beach, Fla. home, where they reportedly found confidential documents.

In response, Trump filed a motion requesting a federal judge appoint a special master to review the seized documents. In addition, the motion also requests the Department of Justice be blocked “further review of seized materials.” The filling was processed through the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, CNBC reports.

In the suit, Trump claims the raid was motivated by politics and that his Fourth Amendment right against unreasonable searches and seizures was violated.

“They demanded that the security cameras be turned off, a request we rightfully denied. They prevented my attorneys from observing what was being taken in the raid, saying ‘absolutely not,'” Trump said in a statement on Monday. “They took documents covered by attorney-client and executive privilege, which is not allowed. They took my passports. They even brought a ‘safe cracker’ and successfully broke into my personal safe, which revealed…nothing!”

Trump is currently under investigation for taking and withholding private documents related to nuclear weapons, among other U.S. government-related business, and he may have also lied to federal officials about having the docs entirely, which would be an obstruction of justice.
