At a recent press conference, CNN’s Kaitlan Collins put Trump on the spot with a question about Ghislaine Maxwell, the former socialite serving time for child sex trafficking.

Collins pointed out that the Supreme Court had just rejected Maxwell’s appeal to overturn her conviction, meaning her only remaining hope for release would be a presidential pardon. When asked if that was something he’d consider, Trump seemed surprised by the question.
“Who are we talking about?” he asked before Collins clarified. “Ghislaine Maxwell. You know, I haven’t heard the name in so long,” Trump said. “I’d have to take a look at it. Did they reject that?”
After Collins confirmed the decision, Trump replied, “I’ll take a look. I will speak to the DOJ. I wouldn’t consider it or not consider it. I don’t know anything about it.”
Then, Trump brought up “Puff Daddy” while discussing the many people who’ve asked him for pardons. “I call him ‘Puff Daddy,’ who has asked me for a pardon,” he said, before returning to Maxwell’s case. “She was convicted of child sex trafficking. Yeah, I’m going to have to take a look at it.”
Maxwell, convicted in 2021 for helping Jeffrey Epstein recruit and exploit underage girls, is currently serving a 20-year federal sentence. The Supreme Court’s decision to reject her appeal leaves no remaining legal path forward, except a presidential pardon.
Whether Trump actually plans to “take a look” at Maxwell’s case remains to be seen, but his response left many wondering how her name and “Puff Daddy” ended up in the same sentence.
