Nakia Holmes, the owner of the widely known Turkey Leg Hut in Houston, is now at the center of a legal firestorm after being charged with hindering the apprehension of a man wanted for aggravated kidnapping.
According to court records, Holmes is accused of allowing Johnathan Saizon to stay at her home while he was wanted for brutally assaulting and kidnapping his ex-girlfriend. Police say that when they arrived at her residence, Holmes told them no one was there and denied knowing Saizon.
Officers later claimed they saw Saizon jump the fence at the back of Holmes’ property.
Holmes had reportedly left her home with another person earlier and was stopped by officers when she returned. When they asked her again if anyone was inside her house, she allegedly repeated that no one was there and she didn’t know Saizon. Eventually, Holmes allegedly changed her story, saying she had picked up Saizon’s mother and that he had told her a cop drove by. She claimed she didn’t know if he was still at her house or had already left.
Saizon is accused of violently attacking his ex-girlfriend with a tire iron and holding her captive for six hours. At the time, he was already out on bond for previous charges. He reportedly dropped the victim off at a hospital after she promised not to call the police.
Holmes has not issued a statement on the matter.
