Two Men Charged With Killing Milwaukee Woman And Setting Her Body On Fire

Two men are facing multiple charges in connection to the murder of a 20-year-old Milwaukee woman whose remains were set on fire.

According to the criminal complaint, Kania Brunson spent the morning with a married man she had been seeing. Police believe that Sultan Shareef tied her up and shot her at some point.

Shareef met up with his brother-in-law Johnny Hopgood later that day and helped dispose of Brunson’s remains. The victim’s body was set on fire and was discovered by someone on September 24 near Keefe Avenue and Palmer Street.

Brunson’s mother told CBS 58 that Shareef had reached out to her a week before her daughter was killed.

“He goes on to say I want to be done messing with your daughter, but she’s reaching out to my wife,” according to Jennifer Meadows

Shareef is facing charges of first-degree intentional homicide and mutilating a corpse for killing Brunson. He is being held on a $500,000 bond.

Hopgood has been also been charged in connection with Brunson’s murder. He is facing charges of mutilating a corpse and harboring or aiding a felon. He is being held on a $50,000 bond.
