The USPS Has Launched An Investigation After Los Angeles Woman Found 104 Mail-In Ballots

The United States Postal Service and registrar’s office has launched an investigation after a woman found more than a hundred stolen mail-in ballots while walking her dog.

During a stroll this past Saturday in West Hollywood while walking her dog, Christina Repaci says she found 104 mail-in ballots that were allegedly left on a sidewalk. The ballots were found in the area of Oxford Avenue and Institute Place, Fox News reports. The ballots were inside a box filled with envelopes.

The woman then took a video of the ballots using her cellphone and then took the ballots home and counted them. She then took to social media, sending the videos to social media accounts and politicians. At some point, she contacted the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, Fox News reports.

Los Angeles County Registrar’s Office, specifically, Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean Logan, responded by picking up the ballots. The office confirmed that none of the ballots were opened but that this was an act of “mail theft” and that it will be investigating.

“Early signs indicate that this was an incident of mail theft and not a directed attempt at disrupting the election,” it said, Fox News reports. “We are cooperating with the United States Postal Service and law enforcement to investigate.”

Residents in Los Angeles will be voting on the competition for Gov. Gavin Newsom and the candidates for several local races, including attorney general, U.S. Senate, state senator, and more.
