Harlem Man Arrested After Video Catches Him Punching His Toddler Son

A Harlem man was arrested after being caught on camera physically abusing his toddler son.

Mandelo Stroman, 26, has been charged with assault and acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17 after he was seen punching his 2-year-old son inside a restaurant called Red Star. The incident happened Saturday evening on 147th Street and Adam Clayton Powell Boulevard. The man turned himself in to police custody on Monday, the New York Post reports.

In the video, Stroman can be seen walking into the restaurant while carrying the toddler and then placing him on the floor. Suddenly, the man punches “the child causing the child to fall to the ground,” the police said in a statement. “The adult male then puts the child in a stroller and exited the location on foot in an unknown direction,” cops explain.

Someone who witnessed the attack called the police immediately after. Stroman was gone by the time police arrived at the scene, but they were able to identify him with the help of the surveillance footage. Stroman has never been arrested prior to this incident.
