Wendell Pierce Speaks On Arrest; Will Not Be Speaking At Rutgers Graduation

Over the weekend actor Wendell Pierce, known to many as Bunk from HBO’s The Wire, was arrested after getting into a physical altercation over politics. Just days after being released on $1000 bail, Pierce has taken to social media to briefly offer his side of the story.

I regret that what started as a civil political discussion escalated to the level that it did,” tweeted Pierce. “Although what has been reported thus far differs in important respects from what actually occurred, I have confidence that the judicial process will work as it should.”

In the meantime, Pierce was set to speak at the Rutgers University – Newark graduation ceremony, however he has been replaced by journalist Soledad O’Brien. The school made the announcement via an email to students, and on Facebook.
