Last week, Judge Margaret M. Garnett denied Kevin Hunter Sr.’s motion to file a lawsuit on behalf of Wendy Williams to challenge her current guardianship.
The ruling confirmed that Hunter cannot legally act in Williams’ name or interfere with her guardianship, protecting her independence and control over her life.
Earlier in June, Hunter Sr. filed the lawsuit seeking to remove Williams’ court-appointed guardian, Sabrina Morrissey. He claimed the guardianship had “become a weapon, not a shield” and added, “The guardianship …serves no therapeutic purpose, no protective function. It is punishment—pure and simple.” He also alleged, “Currently, Ms. Hunter is being confined against her will at one of Coterie’s assisted living facilities with restricted access to her own phone and meaningful contact with her friends and family.”
Hunter Sr. criticized Morrissey, saying, “Wells Fargo permitted Sabrina Morrissey to liquidate assets and transfer funds, in violation of internal bank policies and fiduciary obligations. Despite this unfettered access, Sabrina Morrissey has failed to make timely payments on Ms. Hunter’s outstanding obligations, and many of Ms. Hunter’s financial obligations have gone unattended.” He sought $250 million in damages and requested to serve as Williams’ “next friend.”
However, Williams told TMZ, “Nor do I want him to be a part of my life like that, no. Because I’m divorced forever.” She questioned his motives, saying, “He’s a money-grubber; he’s always been that way,” and added, “It’s good to know that he’s doing such evil things — again.”
