When Men Should Stay Out Of Women’s Business

A new episode of VH1’s “Love & Hip Hop” aired Monday night and I must say that this was indeed an interesting one. In this episode Olivia reveals to Chrissy (Jim Jones’ fiance) that Somaya Reece’s, manager Maurice had quite a few things to say about Jim Jones’ status on Dipset, insinuating that Juelz Santana is the star and that Jones only gets $10k a show. Chrissy, already upset that Maurice previously took it upon himself to disrespect her by calling her trifling (amongst other things) decided to fill Jim in on what was going on. Needless to say Jim did not take it well and was intent on setting the record straight with a 5 foot & chubby Maurice. While Maurice and Somaya were meeting Olivia and her manager for drinks, Jim and a friend paid Maurice a very scary surprise visit and “forced” him to apologize to Chrissy. Was Jim wrong?

Here’s my take on the situation. You would have had to watched the previous episode to get the full reason for this but In my opinion Maurice was wrong for getting in between Somaya and Chrissy’s argument. Once he realized that their differences were not professional but were in fact personal, it was his time to leave them two to sort out their own problems. Maurice instigated the argument between Somaya and Reece when he listened in on a conversation Chrissy was having then took it upon himself to run outside and spill the beans.  Then if that wasn’t enough, while Somaya and Chrissy were arguing about what was said he continued to intervene taking jabs at Chrissy, yelling at her, making comments about a “6ft Somaya” beating her up and completely going overboard with defending Somaya to the point where he was arguing with Chrissy even when Somaya wasn’t. WRONG MOVE IDIOT! I strongly believe that dogs should stay out of cat fights. Chrissy and Somaya were perfectly capable of handling their own business and the only time a man should come between two women is to pry them off of eachother in the event that a fight breaks out. Although Maurice is Somaya’s manager, it was very clear from the beginning that Chrissy and Somaya’s beef was personal and if a personal beef caused Somaya to lose a feature with Jim Jones, so be it, on to the next one! What Maurice SHOULD have done was keep his mouth closed. He instigated the fight, joined the fight and at that point, anything that happened later is just the effect of that.

Unfortunately the after effect was Jim Jones ruffing him up. Was Jim wrong? Not in my opinion. Any real man will see this opportunity as a time to send out a warning, “You mess with my girl, you mess with me”. Although Maurice didn’t harm Chrissy physically, he took quite a few jabs at her that he could have done with out. Was Chrissy hating on Somaya when she suggested Jim not do the song? NO! Somaya isn’t a good rapper or singer, her live performance was bad and the song was even worse. Chrissy was looking out for her man by telling him that she didn’t think it would be a good look. Ultimately it was Jim’s decision. Men should realize that when they place themselves in female drama, they can’t be surprised when another man yanks them out. Stuff like this happens far too often. You have a male who hangs around a lot of women and instead of staying out of the cattiness that comes with that, they add to it or play on it. My first reaction is to tell them that they shouldn’t be fighting a battle that isn’t theres in the first place, let alone when it’s two women. Then I tell them that one day someone is going to put hands on them…will it be a man or a woman?

I hope this episode was a lesson to our men to use discretion when you think you’re doing the right thing. Women aren’t too stupid to iron out our own difference. Check this week’s episode below if you missed it.

PS – For this whole issue to be about SOMAYA she sure did turn ghost when Jim and the goons came? Even Olivia attempted to hold Jim back. What happened to the hood Somaya? smh. No, she didn’t tell Maurice to jump in, but she sure didn’t tell him to jump out when they were double teaming Chrissy.
