Who Is Anna Benson & Why Stevie J Should Be Thankful She Found Jesus

Yesterday we posted a blog about Anna Benson, former star of VH1’s Baseball Wives, and her allegations that Stevie J and Joseline stole her Versace place settings, big screen TV, bedroom set and more, for use in their new home. Several people were not familiar with who Anna was so here’s a brief run down on the reality star and how she went from stripper to attempted murderer.

Anna dropped out of school and left home at 16. She began dancing at a local Atlanta strip club where she met her husband and became pregnant at 17. Shortly thereafter she got divorced and in 1996 Anna had her first major run in with the law. The 19 year old lived in a rundown Tennessee apartment that was adorned with satanic graffiti and anti-police messages. She became the subject of a manhunt after an 18-year-old man named Michael Evans was murdered in her apartment. Anna and her then boyfriend Paul Dejongh were charged with the murder of Evans. Anna fled town but was soon captured 5 months later. In 1998 charges against Anna were dropped, although the victim’s family felt she got away with murder.

Later that year Anna met her future husband, Kris Benson, while she was dancing at Mardi Gras strip club. At the time he was playing for the minor leagues. Kris Benson was the first pick of the 1996 Major League Baseball draft and played his first Major League game in April 1999. The two wed in October 1999 and instantly Anna went from not even having two pairs of underwear, to the wife of a millionaire. By March 2006 Anna had filed for divorce citing an irretrievably broken marriage. She later withdrew her petition and got pregnant again. In total the couple had 4 kids between them.

Kris’ team mates, officials and team organizations considered Anna a distraction and a pain in the ass. She dressed provocatively, was loud mouthed and over the top. Because of her, Kris was frequently traded. By 2004 Kris Benson had earned over $38,000,000. In an interview with Howard Stern that year, Anna said that if Kris were to ever cheat on her she would take revenge by sleeping with the entire Mets organization.

In July 2012, a year after Anna appeared on VH1’s Baseball Wives, Kris served Anna with divorce papers and Anna had been struggling with the split ever since.  In July 2013 Anna broke into her estranged husband’s suburban Atlanta home wearing a bulletproof vest and armed with a gun, ammunition belt, a knife and metal baton. She smashed his computer with the metal baton and demanded $30,000 from her husband. He only got away by telling her he was going to get the money, then sneaking away and calling the police.

Anna stood trial where she plead guilty to aggravated assault and weapons charges. She was sentenced to 15 years probation and ordered her to complete inpatient psychiatric treatment and follow-up care in Texas. Kris currently has custody of the couple’s three children.

It is my assumption that somewhere around the time she went to rehab in 2013, she had Stevie J & Mimi take possession of her items with the intent of them putting it in storage. Just a few days ago Anna took to Twitter to announce that she was back home.  Her Twitter account is now sprinkled with inspirational quotes and Bible scriptures here and there.  Though she’s made it apparent that she’s found Jesus, she’s also tweeted that she’s STILL crazy, so don’t get it twisted.

People call me “crazy” but I would rather be “crazy” than DUMB,” Anna tweeted, “I used to feel like no one loved me because I was “crazy”. Now I know that only a crazy person wouldn’t love me. I don’t care when people say I am insane. Hell, they said Einstein was a “retard”.”

As far as Stevie J, he’s addressed Anna’s allegations on Twitter as well.
