We are finding out more and more about Will Smith the further we read into his new self-titled memoir. Will spoke on his time spent on the set of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and how he tried to date co-star Karyn Parsons.
Will says Karyn “was the least experienced person next to me” and explained how she “beat out a slew of Hollywood big hitters to win her role.” Seeing as Karyn was at the beginning stage of her career, she felt the two should remain professional.
Smith said he tried to explain to Parsons that even though their characters are cousins on the show, the two are not related. However, that still was not working on Karyn and she told him ‘hell no’ when he suggested the two date.
The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air focuses on Will’s character relocating from an urban Philadelphia neighborhood to his uncle’s suburban Bel-Air mansion. While there, Will lives with his Uncle Phil, Aunt Viv and 3 cousins Carlton Banks, Ashley Banks and Hilary Banks (Karyn Parsons).
